As someone who tried to promote comprehensive health care reform a decade ago and decided to push for incremental changes in the years since, I still believe America needs sensible, wide-ranging reform that leads to quality health care coverage available to all Americans at an affordable cost.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A single payer system works like this:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In a single-payer system, all hospitals, doctors, and other health care providers would bill one entity for their services. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A common misconception is that you would be forced to go to whatever doctor the government tells you to go to. That is untrue, and is basically how it works now if you have an HMO that tells you to see certain doctors.<\/p>\n<p>Check out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amsa.org\/hp\/sp.cfm\">this article from the American Medical Student Association<\/a>, (which supports a single-payer system), for more information.<\/p>\n<p>I do not think of health care as an issue for democrats or republicans.
