Twins Win!

… Their first spring training game…

In other news, looks like Milton might need another surgery on his knee. Which doesn’t sound too good. But Santana is going to be an Ace of the staff at some point, I figure, might as well start now.

Spring is just around the corner…

One week from today-

Pitchers and catchers.

🙂

Stupid Bartolo Colon

Ahh the Hot Stove is fired up!

The White Sox picked up Bartolo Colon in a trade today. Twins fans’ collective blood pressure rose slightly. The AL Central won’t be quite the walk it was last year.

On the other hand, he was 1-1 with a 9.00 ERA against the Twins last year. That’s not looking too bad for us.

(Does anyone know of a good stats site that has player vs. team breakdowns?) (Not like anyone reads my website anyways)

David Ortiz, we hardly knew ye!

Well, the great promise of a power hitter that was David Ortiz set sail for better seas today as the Twins released him to make room for some Class A SS that no one has heard of (that’s another story).

Anyone who saw David Ortiz uncork a shot to the upper deck knew that the man could hit, but they also knew he had an ugly swing, was not-so-good in the field, was hurt half the time (or more) that he was with the twins, struggled against lefties, and with runners in scoring position.

So although I think the man could hit 35 home runs in a season, maybe more, we’ll just have to watch from afar. As was written on TwinsGeek today, Want to hear something that surprised me? Ortiz’s career totals with the Twins include just 58 home runs over the last five years. Could anything make it clearer that it’s time for everyone to just move on?

My sentiments exactly.

Twins Fans?

Hey Twins fans,

During the offseason, it sure can get boring and cold in Minnesota. Luckily, there are many things going on in the baseball world worth thinking about. 40 man roster, Rule V drafts, winter meetings, and then we’re almost there!

One site I’ve been reading fairly regularily since finding it is Twins Geek. It fits well with my whole thing, since I am both (1) a Twins fan and (2) a geek.

Anyways, check it out if you’re looking for some Twins talk.

Vikings Lose

Daunte! The Vikings lost again after playing their best game last week. To tell you the truth, I didn’t see much of the game, having left after it was 21-0 to play football with friends. Upon returning I was pleasantly surprised to find the score 24-17, and we had the ball! But, as things go when you’re having a season such as the vikings are having, there is just no way you’re going to win that game. And they didn’t.

I’ve been saying it all year… at least we’ll get a good draft pick again next year. Maybe we’ll be able to sign him before training camp opens?

Vikings 31 – Packers 21

Daunte, oh yeah! The Vikings came through with a huge win in the dome against our arch rivals. I don’t care if they go 3-13 on the year, at least we can say we beat the Packers.
