Sick

I’ve always hated being sick. Little colds that make you feel so worn out. Yesterday I knew it was coming and today it hit me hard. So I’ve taken a day off work to rest.

I also took the oppurtunity to phone my friend Brad who lives in Sweden now. After trying to figure out those 10-10 numbers, I gave up, and got it set up with AT&T with my normal long distance plan. We’ll see if I have any crazy charges on my next phone bill!

Anyways, getting to chat with Brad and Johanna really made my day. It’s been a long time since I had talked with them, and I’m realizing it should not have been so long. I have to keep in touch better.

No real news to post today, Bush is at the UN, being himself. (Not rounding up any support, from what I’ve read) And I’m at home chilling with the dog. Hoping I’m all better tomorrow.

As a side note, my “High Ankle Sprain” is getting much better. And if you had seen me chasing the dog, darting around the backyard in my underwear this morning @4:30am, you’d probably say I was close to 100%. I’d say things are looking up for soccer this weekend.

Rain Rain, Glorious Rain!

I am pleased to report, it’s raining. Or at least it was. We honestly haven’t had rain in about a month and a half, and the landscape was looking pretty dry.

I’m in a constant state of flux regarding what my favorite season is. Right now it’s fall. Fall is so wonderful because the temperatures are cooler, the leaves are changing, the air smells generally nice. It’s a good season for music. (I have seasons for different genres of music.) All my favorite spectator sports, baseball, football and soccer are on. Playing soccer in the fall is also 100 times better than the summer as well.

So anyways, Fall is here as far as I’m concerned, and that’s good. The temperature is 61 degrees. It’s cloudy and there is a slight breeze. It’s friday, the Twins are in first. The Vikings beat the Packers, and I’m feeling good.

Busy Busy

Well, it’s been a busy week and I know my legions of fans have been waiting breathlessly for the conclusion of my Radiohead concert report. Patience, young padowan. Besides the conclusion isn’t nearly as exciting as the pre-amble. The music rocked. I shouldn’t have drank so much water before hand. But I’ll fill in the details, I promise.

I was planning to have all kinds of things done by this weekend… and then I bought Madden 2004. Needless to say I’ve worn a spot on the floor and had to replace my Wavebird batteries in the past couple days. Man is that a sweet game. First action as owner of my franchise: Beer – $1, Hot Dogs – $1. The people love me.

Dentist

I have to go to the dentist today,
Every year those dentists make me pay,
Sit in the big chair, hands everywhere,
In your mouth, feeling your teeth.
Looking for specks of what you eat,

Gurgles and vacuums and buzzing and scraping,
“Have you been flossing and brushing twice daily?”
“Well, umm no, not quite, a little, not really,”
They shake their heads with a look of disgust,
“Oh please not the drill, I was promised no drilling!”

They poke and they prod a little bit more,
Does this hurt here? Or this or over there?
“Well you look clean this time, you were lucky.”
I hop out of the chair, smile fresh and new,
My new floss and new brush are pocketed quickly,

I jump in the car, rev it for good measure,
As I merge and rocket out of view,

I think,
Maybe I should start flossing every day?

Naa….
The week before I go to the dentist is good…

Yay Snow!

The tagline for the past week or so has been “i’m dreaming of a white christmas”, and hopefully we’ll have that. We received about .5 cm* of snow this morning, and although it’s mostly melted off the roads now, it’s nice to look out and see some fresh white stuff.

*After discussing with a co-worker the absurdity of quoting 1/10th of an inch of snow, I (once again) decided that things would be better off if we (the US) just switched to the metric system. I’ll mount a full-scale campaign soon.

Nice weekend

This weekend was our one-year wedding anniversary! Can you believe it? We had ski clinics on Saturday and Sunday, so we had just planned to go out to dinner to celebrate. However, Sonja was secretly planning something else. After skiing on Saturday, she nonchalantly said, “Let’s go to Red Wing”. Since we had planned to go through there anyways, I didn’t really think anything of it.

When we arrived in Red Wing, she navigated us to a little bed and breakfast where she had made reservations! I was totally surprised. We had a nice dinner in Red Wing (not at the place we had originally planned), and had a wonderful evening resting and relaxing.

Unfortunately the weekend had to end, and I’m back at work. I wish we could go on a vacation for a week to celebrate, but we’ll have to save that for another time…

Daydream / Nightmare

Are you 24 going on 12 / 40?

There are roughly 60 bags in that pile, and at 40 gallons a bag, that’s about 2400 gallons of leaves… Out of control. 8:30 – 5:30. The joys of homeownership. But hey, I got to jump in them. 🙂
